In the riveting and eye-opening book, "Man, You Are Crazy," Detective Christopher Anderson and retired police officer Kevin P. Donaldson join forces to confront the silent epidemic of mental health challenges within the law enforcement community, focusing particularly on the often overlooked experiences of men in the field. Drawing from their own compelling stories and professional backgrounds, Anderson and Donaldson shed light on the harsh realities faced by first responders, aiming to destigmatize mental health and initiate a crucial conversation within the ranks.
Good memories never grow old and good people that were their cause never fade away. The lucky few of us are stuck with brilliant blessings having people enter our lives that are of great importance. These great people are our models and archetypes that mold us into the human beings that we are today. It is often tragic when we do not see their value until it is too late. The choice that we make is to recognize who those faces are while they are still around. Very seldom does anyone have the honor to know a great and kind soul. Those who do meet such a person should consider themselves lucky to just be in their presence, if only for the briefest of time. These are the people that make our lives better and worth living. They mean so much to us that a standard is created, either real or mythical, to live up to as the pinnacle of value, truth, and all that is good.

As Real As It Gets
Face Your Pain
We spend our lives trying to run away from the pain. Anesthetizing the hurt and damage that life throws our way. Running away from the inevitability that our trauma will eventually consume our souls.
Years ago I read a book on surviving worst case scenarios. One of them that stands out is how to survive a Prairie fire. Our human instincts tells us to run away from danger. So if a fire is coming your way and you see it, it’s human nature to try and escape. If you attempt to run away from a Prairie fire, it will grow until it ultimately consumes you. Surviving a Prairie fire asks the individual to be counterintuitive towards millions of years of instinctual evolution. The proper way to survive is to run towards that Prairie fire directly into the face of danger. You will get through the other side a little scarred, a little charred, but ultimately you will be alive.
We must think of attacking our own pain and suffering in the same manner as surviving a Prairie fire. Embracing your pain and running towards it facing it head on will shorten the duration of the pain. You will be scarred, and you will be charred, but you will be alive. To be alive means that there is always hope.
